What We Do
Elgon targets controlling equity investments in public or private companies in the technology or telecommunications sectors. We focus principally on companies with revenues of around $50 million or more. We believe companies that fall into this defined market segment are not actively served by many other private equity firms.
We finance our acquisitions through our equity investment, as well as through some amount of debt financing. The amount of such debt financing is designed to preserve prudent levels of financial flexibility for our portfolio companies. We understand the need for companies to have the financial flexibility to be able to weather economic slowdowns as well as to invest to address rapidly changing technology and telecommunications markets. We work closely with management teams to develop budgets that are consistent with the amount of proposed debt financing.
We target companies that are well positioned in growing market segments and that have attractive technology positions. We believe we can add value to companies that are seeking to implement growth strategies, as well as companies that need capital to realign business models around unique selling propositions and defensible customer relationships. We seek to create successful exits for our portfolio companies over target three to five year investment periods. We monetize our investments through IPOs, secondary sales of stock, strategic sales or other means. We believe in closely aligning the interests of management of our portfolio companies with those of our investors.
